Just to add my 2 cents worth, my husband and I both have green eyes and dark brown hair-his is almost black. We have a child with blonde hair and grayish blue eyes, a dark brown haired child with gray eyes, and a light brown haired child with brown eyes. The thing is, his mom was blond and blue eyed, my dad was blond with gray eyes, my mom had brown hair and green eyes, and his dad had black hair with hazel eyes. But, all of their kids have brown or dark brown hair with green or brown eyes. It's no wonder the grandkids are such a rainbow!

This is really interesting and not so hard to believe, 'cause i've heard somewhere that grandchildren can derive lots of their grandparets' characteristics.

I went to Border's today. $176 plus later I came out and look what three of the books are - NUMBER FREAKING, WONDERS OF NUMBERS, and A PASSION FOR MATHEMATICS. This coming home with a girl who used to call herself a MATH MORON. Hmmm. Perhaps now, I can only call it Numerically Challenged, eh????

Even a trip to Borders gives me an excuse to think Numb3rs! Lol!

Thanks Lady Cheryl and Sire Nick....see what you have started in me???

If it makes you feel any better, I absolutely DEVOURED Moneyball last summer (from season 1 episode "Sacrifice"), and I don't like either baseball OR economics. But wow, what a neat book!

I have just started NUMBERS FREAKING and it is absolutely going to be a fave!

By the by, NUMB3RS FREAKING is a book by Gary Rimmer who says, "Number freaking is something we've all done-sometime- if only as kids. It's a "we do it because we've got a brain" thing: it's jazz math, the accountancy of the absurd, forensic speculation, surreal calculation, the art of playing with numb3rs just because we can.

It's with this thought in mind that you should read NUMBER FREAKING. It isn't a book about math and it isn't a book of science. It has nothing whatsoever to do with business or accountants.

This is a book about doodling with numbers, doing sums in your head, rolling dice with the universe."

You know, Ma and Pa, this sort of sounds like a book Charlie might teach a seminar based on! Lol! Hmmm. If I do some research, maybe he already has.
And, no, that wasn't an idea for a scene, so don't call legal <g>! It's just a comment. Well, off to read more strange facts....and thoughts.

Mayhap we need a support group for Numb3rs Freaks!

Seems like a good time to resurrect the Numb3rs Book Club thread in the Math Forum.

I don't think these books are listed. PRBabe, the creator of the thread isn't around, but maybe Fadedambition can add these recent selections to the list.
